You can finally enjoy a pizza on 25th December without insulting your mum’s Christmas dinner – because you can now get your favourite cheesy dish served in a Yorkshire pudding.

Rebels Smokehouse, a BBQ restaurant in East Yorkshire created the combo, that mixes Italian cuisine with the traditional northern side, to create a pizza-pie style dish.

The pizza-filled Yorkshire pudding will take 1500 calories from your daily intake and features a sausage base, topped with tomato and lashings of cheese, and comes in Yorkshire’s favourite export.

The Yorkshire pudding is pre-cooked and then the topping goes into the oven upside-down so the Yorkshire pud remains crisp and tasty.

At £15.95, it’s not that cheap – in fact it’s even more expensive than most pizza places on the high street – but as it’s big enough for two we can’t really complain.

Owner of the restaurant Sean Singer said he was inspired to create the combo after looking at nostalgic foods for his menu. He’d been looking at the Chicago pizza when he had a brainwave.

He said: ‘I was working with co-owners Jason Rowe and Lucas Billingham to create a nostalgic menu when we came up with this.

‘We were thinking of the Chicago town pizza – because we all ate these as a kid, more often than not in frozen form, when we decided to pair it with the Yorkshire pud.

‘Of course, it was the natural progression as we’re all from Yorkshire.’

According to Sean, the new dish is ‘so far going down a storm’, and we’re not surprised – it’s a pizza, served in a Yorkshire pudding – why wouldn’t it be?
