In case you missed the news, we were broken into in the early hours of Friday 9th September. The intruders took a small - but high value and very important - selection of kit including mixing desks, telephones, speakers and amps. In fact they literally unplugged the studio that was on air and took the desk that was broadcasting at the time!
Our engineers did an AMAZING job throughout the following 24 hours to get the station back on air using old and spare equipment that we had in storage. However, the facilities remain depleted and our team have been through a HUGE range of emotions. Not least because the events took place a week before our first birthday!
What we didn't anticipate was the feeling of humbleness when we saw the enormous amount of kind words and the huge show of support for the station.
We had numerous offers of assistance from schools, businesses and other radio stations alike and members of the public have been knocking on the door and offering their help. Almost 30,000 people have seen the statement we published on social media and the fact you have taken even a few minutes to comment and hit 'share' means the world to us.
We knew the Black Country was a special place but we've never felt so appreciated, nor so proud to be from the region, as we do right now. We're not sure how to show our gratitude any other way than by saying thank you. So thank you, Black Country - we love ya :) x
Some of our listeners set up a couple of fundraising opportunities, to help us get back on track - and to further our facilities to give you a better experience. Our CEO, Dave Brownhill, said:
“We knew the Black Country was a special place but we have never felt so appreciated or humbled by the response we received. We are so proud of the Black Country and to be able to provide the service we do across the region. We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone.”
