Event Summary

HEADING TO THE STREET WHERE YOU LIVE.....

Join BHMTC for their 70th Anniversary production of My Fair Lady, at Brierley Hill Civic Hall between Tuesday 10th October and Saturday 14th October 2017.

My Fair Lady is a musical based on George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion", with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The story, set in Edwardian London, concerns Eliza Doolittie, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from Professor Henry Higgins, a phoneticist, so that she may pass as a lady.

The musical's 1956 Broadway production was a notable critical and popular success. With music hits such as "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?", "I Could Have Danced All Night" and "On The Street Where You Live", it set a record for the longest run of any show on Broadway up to that time. It was followed by a hit West End production, a film adaptation and numerous revivals. My Fair Lady has frequently been called 'the perfect musical".
