Join us at Brierley Hill Civic Hall for a night of fun in the Black Country on Wednesday 24th October!
Dazzling musicianship, riveting stage performances and more than 50 TV appearances have established the guys as the kings of swing. In that time they have opened shows for B.B. King and Ray Charles and toured with the original Blues Brothers Band!
They’ve played on 36 radio shows and featured on on Blue Peter, The Gadget Show and not to mention accompanying John Barrowman in a rendition of I Get A Kick Out Of You on Live And Kicking!
Rough, tough and always rocking, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys have appeared at festivals, in concert and at clubs throughout the UK and Europe – and they still play the Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival, where they have headlined for an unprecedented 14 years. Along the way, the band have recorded 11 albums, all distributed worldwide.
The line up includes King Pleasure (vocals and baritone saxophone), Boysey Battrum (alto and tenor saxophones), Bullmoose K Shirley (guitars), Mighty Matt Foundling (piano), Shark Van Schtoop (bass), and Gary ‘The Enforcer’ Barber (percussion).
The station ran a competition and received some amazing applications from talented bands and artists from across the area. Three bands have won the opportunity - Amoeba Teen, Sunjay and Gasoline and Matches.
Stourbridge band Amoeba Teen will bring their indie power pop to that stage; with influences from Jellyfish and Teenage Fanclub - they’ve been courted by major brands for TV adverts and between then have received rave reviews and links into Steve Lamacq and BBC 6Music. Look forward to their exciting performance.
Sunjay is another performer from Stourbridge. He was a Young Folk Finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2012, ad a winner at the New Roots competition in St Albans. He’s also received nominations in the Exposure Music Awards and the British Blues Awards, and has supported Steeleye Span on tour. Recently he’s been playing Buddy Holly in a UK-wide touring theatre show.
Lyrics magazine’s “one’s to watch of 2018,” Gasoline and Matches are the final artists to join tonight’s line-up. Another award-nominated band, Sally Rea Morris and Steve Marks deliver a unique blend of Fleetwood Mac-esque harmonies, Brad Paisley-infused guitar solos and energetic live performances.
The event is hosted by Black Country Radio's Pat Breslin and every ticket will be entered into a prize draw to win big!
