Learn how to draw your own medieval castle, using real evidence and inspiration from our archaeology dig at Glengarnock Castle in Scotland!
Turrets. Staircases. Drawbridges. Fantastical medieval castles are fun to draw, but how do you draw one that’s realistic?
DigVentures has organised an archaeological dig to explore the ruins of Glengarnock Castle in Scotland, re-discover its original layout, and unearth previously unknown clues about its story.
In this live, online draw-along event, we’ll reveal our discoveries and show you how to piece together our evidence and draw your own medieval castle - with details that will make yours look like the real deal!
What we'll do
To get things started, we'll give you a brief overview of the layout of different medieval castles, and some of the architectural elements that they would include.
Then, our team of archaeologists will show you some of the real evidence we collected on our dig.
You will then be led in some basic archaeological drawing techniques and exercises to help you create your very own medieval-style castle, based on real evidence from our dig at Glengarnock Castle.
Finally, we'll reveal our own drawings of the castle to see how yours compares!
