A great, spoken word open mic event at Brownhills Community Centre in the Lamp theatre space.
Open to all. Local writers and poets especially welcome. This is a friendly, open mic, spoken word evening for local and not so local writers/poets... with a featured poet each month.
This month’s featured artist :
*** Brendan Hawthorne ***
poet, playwright, writer, musician who has performed on a plinth in London’s Trafalgar Square, on Radio WM and on The One Show! He is current Poet Laureate of Wednesbury and one of the Black Country 100 Masters with his own monthly acoustic/spoken word event.
He is also one half of Boonyeds comedy duo and of music duo, So It Goes.
Brendan’s Black Country background has forged his attitude to writing and performing poetry. Sometimes hard-hitting, sometimes delicate and poignant, his work examines the range of human experience from factory gates via 1970's tower blocks to the survival of humour in modern times either in standard English or his beloved Black Country dialect.
£3 entry, all-comers welcome.
Free parking at the back via Pelsall Road entrance.
Email to reserve a slot for your own poetry/spoken word or available slots to be had on the door.
New readers are very welcome to come or just to enjoy the evening.
*Free* teas/coffees! Other drinks available at the bar.
Raffle with great prizes to be won for lucky 50p tickets.
Poetry books may be available to purchase from performers.
