Stourbridge Community Development Trust will be hosting a public consultation at Stourbridge Town Hall around the issue of Housing and the Environment. Invited speakers and discussion will centre around the proposed plans for a combined total of more than 1000 houses that currently threaten the green belt to the West of the town and large developments at the northern gateway that raise issues of traffic, health provision and school places as well as the environment and climate change.  

We will be putting forward the alternative view of development of unique sites within existing footprint of the town built by the community for the community. Allied to this will be discussions about how we can make those houses sustainable, addressing issues of affordability and climate change . This is a big conversation and we hope that people will come along and take part as well as providing feedback after the event online. We will also discuss how we can address a lack of democracy and accountability in relation to development of our community by looking at developmental competition which exists in many other areas of the world and how the community can make their voice heard .
