Adult Learning in Dudley receives glowing report

Adult learning in Dudley has received a glowing report from Ofsted with many areas highlighted as good or excellent.

Inspectors from Ofsted visited in March and found that services overall were good and highlighted areas of excellence.

More than 6,000 people sign up to adult learner courses run by Dudley Council each year.

The inspectors found that managers and tutors were working effectively to provide learning opportunities for priority groups of learners and that a wide variety of courses are available including courses that lead to recognised qualifications.

Alan Lunt, strategic director for the place directorate at Dudley Council, said:

“We’re pleased that our hard work has been recognised in this way. It shows that people flourish through the range of courses offered through the service.

“We are committed to offering a good, wide variety of learning opportunities for people not just to help them learn and gain qualifications but also to learn new skills for employment.”

Hundreds of courses are available for people to sign up to including leisure focussed classes in art and craft and health and well being. People can also sign up to academic courses including IT, English and maths, through to the vocational such as accounting and construction.

Courses are available by searching ‘adult learning’ via Dudley Council’s website at dudley.gov.uk or by calling 01384 818143.

A full copy of the report is available on the Ofsted website.
