Appeal after two injured in Sedgley burglary

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted and a woman hit by a car following a burglary in Sedgley.

Burglars managed to break into a home in Northway through a rear door at around 9pm on Saturday 19th January.

The occupiers were disturbed and the two men believed to have been involved were chased down the street by the home owner. The 38-year-old man was assaulted and suffered a shoulder injury as the pair escaped. A third burglar who had the keys to an Audi S4 on the driveway then reversed into a family member who tried to stop him stealing the car.

The 60-year-old suffered cuts to her head and legs and a hand injury. The car then hit another passing vehicle while trying to escape and the driver made off. CCTV and house to house enquiries are being carried out to identify the three men who fled empty-handed. DC David Laver, from force CID, said:

"This was a particularly distressing incident for the two people who were hurt. Thankfully they were not more seriously injured but it was a traumatic ordeal and we need to catch those who were responsible."
