Award-winning BITA prepare to bring Jesus Christ Superstar to Birmingham

Birmingham Institute of Theatre Arts will stage the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic at The Old Rep in October.

The team behind recent productions of In the Heights and 13 The Musical are uniting once again with their stunning cast of 12-19 year olds who bring their own professionalism to the stage.

Joining BITA’s resident choreographer, Attiye Partridge, will be Cleve September, who plays John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton in the West End mega-musical, Hamilton

Award-winning designer, Andrew Exeter, who’s recent work includes lighting design for BTA’s season at Southwark Playhouse, also joins the creative team. Cleve September said:

“I think Superstar is an extraordinary show, so it’s fitting that we have given it to an extraordinary group of kids who put their heart and soul into everything they do!

“They meet once a week and produce a level of work so high that’s always inspiring. They commit themselves fully to the choreography, vocals and storytelling of the piece and I am so excited to see the final piece come to life!

“Working with them has been a lot of fun, and I am so proud of all their achievements. Come and see them do what they do!”

Tickets are £15 and are on sale at oldreptheatre.co.uk.

BITA prides itself on providing professional opportunities for young people who would otherwise miss out. Recent UK tours with Josh Groban, Russell Watson and performances at the Palladium accompany a Foundation that funds drama school auditions.
