Brierley Hill family flee home following fire

A Brierley Hill family had to flee their home after a fire broke out in the garage on Sunday.

Firefighters were called to a house in Baxter Road at 5.56am on Sunday (September 10) to tackle the blaze, which had also spread to the kitchen.

A man and woman in their 30s and two children had managed to get out of the property prior to the arrival of crews, who rescued the family's dog.

The family were all taken to Russells Hall Hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said the fire had been accidental but the cause was currently unknown.
