Cadbury World chocolatiers celebrate royal match made in chocolate heaven

The confectionery masters at Cadbury World have unveiled their latest majestic creation in order to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – a chocolate recreation of Windsor Castle.

Weighing in at around 50kg – the equivalent of 1,111 bars of standard Cadbury Dairy Milk and measuring 75cm tall, the towering creation took two chocolatiers four days to bring to life.

Fashioned using a mix of milk and white chocolate on site at the Cadbury World attraction in Bournville, the design is a replica of the front façade and turrets of Windsor Castle featuring the Henry VIII Gate with St George’s Chapel visible in the background.

Each brick of the castle has been individually hand-scored by the talented chocolatiers, with an intricate coat of arms placed above the gate. The creation is covered in black and silver lustre, and features intricate details including flags and bunting in a patriotic colour scheme of red, white and blue. The chapel is constructed from a mixture of milk and white chocolate with hand-piped detailing, and is adorned with delicate chocolate flowers to complete the façade, whilst eight handcrafted soldiers in red jackets and Bearskin hats complete the creation.

The Cadbury World chocolatiers have now produced several chocolatey creations to mark royal milestones, including a chocolate rocking horse for the birth of Prince Louis, a chocolate pram for Princess Charlotte, a chocolate cot complete with a range of toys for the birth of Prince George plus a delicately constructed chocolate Buckingham Palace to commemorate The Queen’s 90th Birthday. Diane Mitchell, marketing manager at Cadbury World said:

“Our chocolatiers never fail to create something fit for royalty to celebrate a special occasion, but I think the chocolate Windsor Castle may well be their crowning glory. The scale of the construction and its minute details make it one of the best yet.

"We look forward to sharing the creation up-close with Cadbury World visitors and wish Prince Harry and Meghan a wonderful and very happy life together.”

The chocolate Windsor Castle will be on display in Cadbury World’s Chocolate Making zone throughout May and June.
