Car gutted in suspected arson attack

A car was destroyed in Oldbury on Monday night in what fire firefighters believe was an arson attack.

Firefighters from Oldbury Fire Station were alerted to the blaze – on Lion Farm Playing Fields, in Brunel Road – just after 11pm.

The Oldbury crew were joined by a brigade response vehicle from West Bromwich, and used a hose reel jet to put out the flames, which had engulfed the car. A spokesman from West Midlands Fire Service said:

“We received a 999 call at 11.12pm last night to a fire in Brunel Road, Oldbury. We sent eight firefighters in total, who were there for just over an hour.

"The car was 100 per cent involved in the fire and we requested police to the scene as believed the incident was arson.”
