Charity supporters set to run back to the 80s

Hundreds of local people are set to go back in time for a charity fun run. Each year, fundraisers at the Mary Stevens Hospice organise their annual Neon Night Run which will this year be 1980's themed.

Charity supporters have been encouraged to dress up as their favourite 80's characters and in the decade's iconic outfits for a two-hour party on Friday 28th September, followed by a 5k fun run around the grounds of Himley Hall.

There will be live entertainment throughout the evening from the likes of A Flock of 80's, Bhangra Mash Ups and The Toxic Dolls, as well as special guests, an 80's' dance tunnel and a second live music area along the route.

All participants have also received a limited edition 1980's t-shirt, decorated with classic quotes from iconic songs and movies from the decade such as Top Gun and Cyndi Lauper's Girls 'Just Wanna Have Fun'. This event has raised more than £40,000 for the Hospice since its debut in September 2016. Amanda Bowen, Deputy Head of Fundraising & Lottery, Mary Stevens Hospice Group said:

“The 80's was an iconic decade for music and fashion, and those of us lucky enough to have been there still look back on it with such fondness. Our Neon Night Run is such a colourful and fun occasion each year, and we think that taking it back to the 1980's is the perfect way to celebrate and light up the night for the people we love.

"We're hoping to see loads of our supporters there for a night of letting their hair down to make our care possible for our patients!”

Online registration for the event will close on Sunday 23rd September and interested supporters can sign up online or call the Hospice Fundraising Office on 01384 377 778.
