City theatre wins big at Birmingham Awards

Judith Greenburgh, Ben Wooldridge, Laura Smith and Amy Stutz from Birmingham Hippodrome pick up their awards.

Staff at Birmingham Hippodrome are celebrating after the theatre received two accolades at this year's 'Birmingham Awards'.

The theatre was honoured with two trophies; the 'Arts and Culture Award' and 'Best Use of Social Media or Marketing Campaign' for their viral video campaign for the Take That musical, The Band.

The Birmingham Awards celebrate the city’s vibrant citizens and institutions, recognising the work of individuals and organisations that make the second city a vibrant, diverse and exciting place to be. Laura Smith, Head of Communications at Birmingham Hippodrome said:

“The Arts and Culture Award recognises not only Birmingham Hippodrome’s fantastic shows on our main stage and in the Patrick Studio, but also our Hippodrome Projects work with the wider Birmingham community.

“Our video promoting The Band also won the award for Best Use of Social Media or Marketing Campaign. Our Communications Team had great fun out and about in the city, encouraging the people of Birmingham to singalong to a favourite track from Take That – without the support of the community this video wouldn’t have proven to be such a success with over 70k views.

It’s timely to win these important awards as Birmingham Hippodrome prepares to celebrate its 120th anniversary in 2019, and we can’t wait to share the celebrations with the people of Birmingham through an exciting programme of multiple events. More details will be announced soon.
