Community Litter Pick At Ellowes Hall

A community led litter pick will be taking place on a North Dudley housing estate next month.

The Ellowes Hall & Area Tenants and Residents Association are organising a group of litter pickers to meet at Ellowes School on Saturday 24 September for 9.30am.

The event starts at 10am and runs for approximately 2 hours, and the association is asking anyone who has some time to spare to join in. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Councillor Gaye Partridge, cabinet member for housing, said:Litter pick at Ellowes Hall

“Community litter picks are great as they bring the local residents together to work for the good of the whole estate, aiming to make it a better place to live and play in.

“Ellowes Hall TRA started in 2009 and they work tirelessly for residents living on the Lower Gornal estate.  I think it is brilliant that volunteers give up their spare time to participate in such events as this community clean up.

“Dudley Council is a community council and such initiatives show how everyone can work together for the betterment of the locality and helps us to achieve one of our council priorities – to make Dudley a cleaner, greener and environmentally friendly borough.  I urge anyone living on the estate to get involved both with this litter pick and the tenants and residents association.”

Bags, high visibility jackets, litter pickers and gloves will be provided for use.  Please note that no unaccompanied children will be allowed on this litter pick.

As part of the council’s pledge to be a community council through the Love Your Community campaign the authority aims to work closer with the local community to help make Dudley be a great place to live and work.
