Council celebrates employing more than 500 apprentices

Sandwell Council has employed more than 500 apprentices since their scheme was introduced in 2012.

The special milestone coincides with National Apprenticeship Week, which runs between 4th - 8th March.

Sandwell Council offers a wide range of apprenticeships to both new employees and existing staff. More than 60 qualifications are on offer ranging from level 2 to level 7 - a qualification equivalent to a master's degree. Councillor Paul Moore, cabinet member for regeneration and economic investment, said:

"Apprenticeships are an increasingly popular way to earn a wage while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

"More than 500 apprentices have benefited from our investment into their future and we hope to be able to continue to offer these opportunities to new employees and our existing staff."

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, a careers event will be held at Sandwell Council House in Oldbury on Thursday 7th March, from 2:00pm to 5:30pm in the Council Chambers, to showcase jobs and apprenticeships available in Sandwell.

The event will focus on apprenticeships and attendees will have the opportunity to meet current apprentices and be able to find out about the support available to help them get a job or apprenticeship.
