Council invites residents to explore employment opportunities

Council bosses are encouraging people to consider a career with Dudley Council, with vacancies which range from professional level, full time roles, to part-time positions.

After investing in services and streamlining the way staff work over the last few years, the council is looking to recruit a range of staff to help deliver services to residents.

The majority of the vacancies are with the council’s green care team, looking after the borough’s parks and greenspaces, in the social care sector and in housing, with roles from housing repair and maintenance to support staff.

Schools in particular have a range of vacancies, with admin assistants and cleaners, exam invigilators and lunchtime supervisors, teaching assistants as well as teaching posts.

The council is also looking to increase the range of apprenticeships its offers through the Apprenticeship Levy, a UK business levy used to fund apprenticeship training. As well as offering roles to existing employees, the council is keen to attract young people to take up the positions, allowing them to develop new skills and train on the job. Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for transformation and performance said:

“Dudley Council is committed to making sure local people receive the best possible public services and our employees are proud to work for us and serve the people of Dudley.

“We have a range of vacancies at the moment, mainly in our greencare, social care and housing teams, and we’re keen to expand the range of apprenticeships we offer, giving young people the opportunity to start their careers.

“Anyone interested in working for Dudley Council should visit the WMJobs website where all of our vacancies are listed and people can sign up for alerts for any areas they are particularly interested in.”

The council’s HR team regularly attends recruitment events around the borough to promote the benefits of working for the people of the borough. To find out more about applying for an apprenticeship visit dudleycouncilapprenticeshipacademy.co.uk
