Council publish festive opening times for key services

Dudley Council has produced a one-stop checklist of how the festive period affects opening times

The Christmas opening times page at dudley.gov.uk/xmasopeningtimes includes information on housing, register office, Dudley Council Plus and how to reach services in an emergency and much more. Emergency frontline services will continue over the festive break.

Household waste and recycling collection dates are unchanged over the holiday period. The household waste recycling centre will be closed on 25 and 26 December and 1 January, and slots must still be booked online. At Dudley Council Plus, the walk-in centre at Castle Street, telephone and online services will be closed 24 to 28 December and 3 January.

Children, adult and community services offices will be closed 24 to 28 December and 3 January. To contact children’s or adult care services in an emergency or when offices are closed call the emergency duty team on 0300 555 8574.

Most housing services will close 23 December at 4.30pm until 29 December and 31 December at 4.30pm to 3 January. The homeless prevention and response team will operate from Dudley Council Plus during these opening hours and may be contacted for emergencies only outside these times on 0300 555 2345.

The Repairs Management Centre, from 24 to 28 December and 1 to 3 January there will be an emergency repair service only. Out of hours emergency calls will be dealt with as usual. Call 0300 555 8283 to report any emergencies on these days 24 hours a day. Use www.dudley.gov.uk to log any non-urgent enquires.

The Pleased to Meet You service will be closed on 24 to 28 December and 4 January. The service will be running as usual on 29 to 31 December from 9am until 4pm. Contact the team by calling 01384 812761 or by emailing CommunitySupportServ@dudley.gov.uk

Payment of council tax, business rates or housing rent can be made by debit or credit card by calling Callpay on 0300 555 7000 or online payments and enquiries.

Gornal and Stourbridge cemeteries and grounds are open across the Christmas period 9am to 4.30pm with the book of remembrance and flower rooms open 9am to 4pm. The crematoriums and offices will be closed on 24, 27, 28 December and 3 January.

Residential care and home care telecare offices will close 23 December at 4.30pm and re-open 29 December at 9am. Services including residential care sheltered housing and homecare telecare will continue to operate during the holiday period. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:

"Many of our council services will continue to operate over the festive period. We want to remind residents, particularly those who are elderly and vulnerable that we are still here for them, especially those emergency frontline services that people depend on.

"Other services may be affected with alternative or reduced opening hours. We want to encourage people to check before travelling to libraries, leisure centres and other popular activities.

"We have produced a list for people check, which includes those all-important emergency contact details."
