Couple found in critical condition in Halesowen house

A major police investigation has been launched after an elderly couple were found in a critical condition in Halesowen.

The husband and wife, aged 87 and 84, were taken to Russells Hall Hospital, however nothing could be done for the man and he died yesterday. His wife has been described as 'being in hospital receiving treatment'.

Police officers have been stationed outside the house in Overend Road where the couple were found at around 9am on Monday morning.

An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of what happened, however detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the enquiry. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

“We were called to reports of a medical emergency on Overend Road at 8.57am on Monday morning. West Midlands Police have been stationed outside the Overend Road-based home for a number of days.

“Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene. On arrival we discovered two patients, a man and a woman. They both received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before both being transported to Russell’s Hall Hospital.”
