The borough’s St George’s Day celebrations promise something for everyone as the festival returns to Dudley Castle for another year.

Staff at the attraction, in the grounds of Dudley Zoo, are delighted to be the setting for the action-packed patriotic extravaganza for the third year running.

The festivities take place on Sunday April 22nd in the 11th century castle courtyard between 3pm and 7pm and will include medieval re-enactors, children’s entertainers, face painting and  crafts.

There will also be extra talks and feeds at the penguin and sea lion enclosures, history talks, ghost tours and St George’s Day themed refreshments will be available from the Queen Mary restaurant. Zoo Director, Derek Grove, said:

“We’re extremely pleased to be joining up with Dudley Council in celebrating the legend of St George again this year. There will be lots going on for borough residents of all ages and we look forward to welcoming them to what promises to be another magnificent event.”

Tickets (which are only valid from 3pm) cost £2.50 per person with children aged up to 2 years old being free. Councillor Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley, said:

“We are pleased to be working with Dudley Zoo again this year. The last two years St George’s Day celebrations have been a great success thanks to the fantastic entertainment provided for all the family.

“The event has proved to be very popular so I would encourage people to book early as there are a limited number of £2.50 tickets available.”
