Dudley Community Centre Suffers Break In Overnight

Former Mayor and Mayoress of Dudley, Steve and Jayne Waltho, at the opening of DY1 in 2015

A community centre in Dudley suffered major damage as it was raided overnight.

Thieves struck at the DY1 centre on Stafford Street, which has been open for less than a year. Police said items were stolen from the safe, though it has not been confirmed if cash was taken. A white Ford Transit van was also stolen.

The centre is run by the Dudley Community Voluntary Service and holds coffee mornings and other events.

The building underwent a refurbishment prior to its opening and has closed until further notice following the break-in.
