Dudley Council House to go pink for Organ Donation Week

Dudley Council House is to be lit up next week to help raise awareness about organ donation.

The building in Priory Road will be lit up pink from Monday to Sunday to coincide with Organ Donation Week, which runs from September 20 to September 26. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of the council, said:

“We are marking this very important week in a symbolic way by lighting up the council house.

”Organ donation saves and transforms lives, and we are backing the drive nationally to raise awareness and hopefully find more donors”

In May last year the law around organ donation changed in England.

All adults are now considered as having agreed to donate their own organs when they die, unless they record a decision not to donate, are in one of the excluded groups or have told their family that they don’t want to donate.
