Dudley police officers attempt to trace witness to taxi driver attack

Police officers in Dudley urgently need to speak to a woman, who is believed to have seen an attack which left a taxi driver with a fractured skull on Sunday 28 February.

The assault took place at around 21.30 in Bell Street South, Brierley Hill. A 60-year-old taxi driver was attacked during a verbal altercation with people in another vehicle, resulting in him suffering a serious head injury. The driver remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Two males, aged 16 and 21, have been arrested in connection with the assault and are currently on police bail while further enquiries take place.

A force representative said: "We urgently need to trace this woman who we believe witnessed the assault and screamed during the incident. We believe she may have been in the company of either one or two other men.

"We continue to investigate the attack and have carried out house to house enquires and forensic checks on two vehicles we have seized. CCTV from the local area is also being examined."
