75-year-old man stabbed in Dudley street

Police in Dudley are urgently seeking witnesses to a seemingly random attack, which saw a pensioner stabbed in the town yesterday.

The 75-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder on King Street, near the junction with Birmingham New Road, at around 10.45am, by a black man in dark clothing who then ran off.

A black car stopped and someone, possibly a witness, got out to speak to the man but then drove off. The elderly victim summoned help and was taken to hospital where he remains with non-life threatening injuries.

The area would have been busy at that time of day and officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened and can help their investigation.

Information can be given to DC Patrick Lewis on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
