Easter fun with Juniors at Museums

Youngsters can enjoy a huge range of activities, holiday schools and family fun days with the Juniors at Museums (JAM) club this Easter break.

Activities are on offer at Dudley Council’s two museum sites, from craft activities to films to free trails.

Free family trails, where children can hunt for clues around the venues, will be available every day from Saturday 25 March to Sunday 10 April at the Red House Glass Cone and from Saturday 25 March until Saturday 9 April at Dudley Museum and Art Gallery.

There’s a free, drop-in, Sticky Saturday session on Saturday 9 April at Dudley Museum and at the Red House Glass Cone on Saturday 16 April with the chance to have a go at a craft and get messy and sticky. Sticky Saturday runs 1.30 – 3.30pm at both venues.

Dudley Museum is continuing its popular Family Film Club on Saturday 9 April at 11am. Drop in and see what’s showing. Dudley Museum is also hosting a drop-in ‘jungle madness’ family crafts day on Thursday 7 April from 10.30 – 3.30. Families can take part in a range of craft activities for £2.35 per child. There is no need to book for this session.

Over at the Red House Glass Cone, Wordsley, on Monday 4 April, youngsters aged 8 to 12 can enrol in a day-long spring themed holiday school from 9.30 – 3.30 and take part in a range of crafts, under the safe guidance of museum education staff. Places cost £23 and must be booked and paid for in advance.

There’s also the chance to make fused glass cats and dogs at the cone on Tuesday 5 April with bookable sessions at 10.30, 11.30am and 1pm. Sessions cost £4.25.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member responsible for museums said:

“This is a really busy programme for half-term, with lots of free activities included. Parents looking for something to do during the holiday are sure to find something to suit their youngsters.”

Dudley Museum is open 10am - 4pm Monday to Saturday, closed Bank Holidays; Red House Glass Cone is open 10am - 4pm Monday to Sunday, open Bank Holidays. Admission to both sites is free.
