Enjoy a medieval Christmas in Dudley this weekend

Dudley Markets will be putting on a medieval air this weekend thanks to a joint event between Tudor Markets and Dudley Council.

The two-day event on 11 and 12 December will see Dudley’s regular market traders joined by a host of medieval themed entertainers.

Shoppers making the most of the market’s regular offer of fruit and veg, toys, clothes, treats and stocking fillers will also be entertained by knights in armour, juggling and fire-eating jesters and a medieval doctor touting authentic medieval remedies.

The entertainment will run at various times over the two-day event with the chance to witness up-close demonstrations of weaponry and armour, medieval medicine and joking jesters. Some additional traditional marker traders are expected to join the already well-established and popular regulars on Saturday, while Sunday will host the ever-popular car boot sale. Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

"We’re really pleased to be working with Tudor to provide this unique two-day event. It’s important that we support our town centre businesses and market traders and we hope this Medieval spectacular will prove a real draw for shoppers and families.

"The entertainment varies every day so it’s definitely worth coming into town on both days. We hope that people will support the event and their local businesses and traders."
