Ex-Dudley Councillor Appears In Court On Child Pornography Charges

A former Dudley councillor has appeared in court charged with taking indecent images of a child.

Ex-Wordsley Labour councillor, Derrick Hemingsley, aged 57, appeared before Walsall magistrates last week accused of taking 90 pictures of the child.

The 57-year-old, of Penzer Street, Kingswinford, was granted conditional bail and the case was committed to Wolverhampton Crown Court where he is due to appear on February 9.

Mr Hemingsley, whose term of office ended in April 2016, was involved in the Wordsley Speed and Street Watch initiatives, the Friends of Wordsley Park group and he was also a governor at Belle Vue Primary School in Wordsley.
