Families help shape future of local maternity care

Local women, mums, dads and their families are invited to attend a feedback event on Wednesday 26 September and find out how their voices have helped to shape maternity services in the Black Country and West Birmingham.

Over the last year, NHS organisations in Dudley, Sandwell and West Birmingham, Walsall and Wolverhampton have talked to more than 200 women and families about their experience of using local maternity services at four listening workshops.

The workshops allowed clinicians, maternity service users, carers, staff and commissioners to walk in other people’s shoes whilst exploring a range of scenarios and topics. At the event on 26 September, feedback from these workshops and an action plan going forward will be presented. Sally Roberts, Chief Nurse for the Black Country and West Birmingham Local Maternity System said:

“These workshops have been a fantastic opportunity to hear the views from local women and families using our maternity services. The insight we gained has been invaluable in helping to shape and develop a future maternity service across the Black Country and West Birmingham.

"This will offer women safe, supportive and high quality personalised care during and after their pregnancy and we look forward to sharing our findings.”

The event will take place on Wednesday 26 September 2018 from 10am to 2pm at the Holiday Inn, Walsall (M6 Junction 10). To book your place, call 01922 618 388. Babies and children are welcome to attend.
