Free Parking Expected To Boost Town Centre Visits

A free parking trial in Dudley Council car parks in four areas across the borough gets underway next week.

Shoppers visiting Dudley Council car parks in Sedgley, Dudley, Brierley Hill and Halesowen can enjoy up to two hours of free parking from Monday (24 April) until 2 July.

People who want to take advantage of the trial will need to print and display a free parking ticket from the machines already in place. Normal charges will be in place for people parking for longer than two hours and return is prohibited within three hours of leaving. Alan Lunt, strategic director for place, said:

“Some of our residents and traders have expressed a belief that reduced parking charges could help to boost trade here in Dudley borough.

“The two hour free parking scheme trial is being piloted in different types of retail centres across the borough and we are keen to see how this could affect the numbers of shoppers coming into the areas.”
