Girl hurt after main road smash

A teenage girl was hurt after being hit by a car on a busy road in the Black Country on Friday.

The girl, thought to be age between 15 and 17, suffered head and leg injuries after being hit near at the junction of Birmingham New Road and Priory Road in Dudley, near Aldi. The Birmingham New Road was blocked as police and paramedics arrived at the scene at around 9.45am.

The busy road remained closed, between Priory Road and Tipton Road, for a number of hours. West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, Jamie Arrowsmith, said:

"One ambulance was in attendance and a patient was on the Birmingham New Road. She was fully conscious and had leg and head injuries."

Meanwhile a five-vehicle crash caused long delays on the M6 and completely closed a stretch of the motorway while an air ambulance landed at the scene.
