Halesowen Residents Form Group To Tackle Speeding Motorists

A campaign group has been set up to take action against speeding motorists on a Halesowen Road.

The 'Friends of Howley Grange Road' have launched a petition calling for traffic calming measures before there is a serious accident or even a death.

The group says it has the support of Howley Grange Primary School and local councillors and its calls follow several recent incidents including car accidents and cars veering off the road, narrowly avoiding pedestrians. Resident Jenny Clulow said:

“I see cars and buses doing well over the speed limit of 30mph. It is used as a rat run. I am a childminder and want to be able to go out with the children to the local park safely - there is no safe place to cross and most of the time it is between parked cars.

“We have had tremendous support so far, we just hope that Dudley Council will listen to our concerns and meet with us to discuss what traffic calming measures can be put in place."

The friends’ group is urging all residents, parents and carers to help in the fight and has vowed not to give up until action is taken. It has set up on online petition as well as a Facebook page to highlight the issues, and communicate developments to residents.

The group also took its petition to the Howley Grange Primary School fete and has collected about 450 signatures so far.
