Help offered for those affected by Carillion collapse

Free advice and support is being offered to residents in Dudley affected by the collapse of Black Country manufacturing firm Carillion.

The construction giant, based in Wolverhampton, has gone into liquidation, putting thousands of jobs potentially at risk.

Tenants and residents living in Dudley borough who have been affected are being urged to call into drop-in sessions at three neighbourhood centres for free and impartial support and advice.

Dudley Council’s adult and community learning staff will be on hand to offer careers advice and support and guidance. Help can also be offered with English and Maths if required, access to computers, training courses and funding support. Staff are on hand at Castle & Priory Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Limes Road, Dudley, from 9am to 12 noon every Monday.

They will be at Brierley Hill Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Hill Street, Brierley Hill, from 1pm to 4pm every Wednesday and Dudley Wood Neighbourhood Centre, Dudley Wood Road, Dudley, every Friday from 9am to 12 noon.

Alternatively, people can contact the team by calling (01384) 818143 or 07799070974, or by emailing adultlearning.dachs@dudley.gov.uk. Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member for planning and economic development, said:

“We recognise it is a very difficult and uncertain time at the moment for a lot of people associated with Carillion. Some will have been there for their whole working lives and will naturally be extremely worried about what the future holds.

“We want to help, and we would urge people to pop along and see our staff, or email or give us a call. We can guarantee a friendly face, and we can help in a number of ways.”

Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) has been appointed to oversee the Carillion liquidation process. If you are an employee of Carillion and have any questions, you can contact the PWC helpline on 0800 0639 282 or email employees.carillion@uk.pwc.com.
