Hollywood Heartthrob Makes Surprise Donation to Acorns Children's Hospice

Hardy has starred in films including The Dark Knight Rises and TV shows like Peaky Blinders.

Life-limited children and their families are set to benefit thanks to a surprise donation from a Hollywood A-lister.

Tom Hardy, star of the Dark Knight Rises and Birmingham Gangster series, Peaky Blinders donated £7,000 to Acorns Children’s Hospice, which provides care for life limited and life threatened children across Birmingham and the Midlands.

The amount was raised from a charity day organised by financial services company ICAP which saw Tom taking to the phones at the company offices, speaking directly to ICAP’s customers to close deals and boost trading volumes, raising funds for Acorns in the process. Louise Arnold, director of income generation at Acorns, said:

“Tom did an amazing job closing deals and we really appreciate his time and help raising funds and awareness for our work.

"We have to raise nearly £10 million every year to provide the complex range of services, care and support families rely on, so this donation will help make a real difference to families across the region.”

In the past year Acorns has provided care for more than 830 children and over 1,060 families, including those who are bereaved. ICAP donates 100 percent of revenues and brokers’ commissions from deals closed on its Charity Day and this year the initiative raised £8.2 million for good causes.
