Hospice is searching for Carnival Queen

A Stourbridge charity is on the hunt for a local queen, prince & princess to enjoy a memorable day at its end-of-summer fayre.

The Mary Stevens Hospice holds an annual Summer fayre every September which, for the second year running, will feature a big parade through the streets of Oldswinford, led by the Carnival Queen, Prince and Princess.

Staff at the Hospice are encouraging nominations of anyone who families and friends believe really deserve, and would benefit from, a day of being treated like royalty. The chosen nominees will be guests of honour throughout the event and will lead the parade sat on top of a luxury convertible as they wave to the supporters and residents who will be lining the streets up to the Hospice.

Carnival Queen nominees must be aged 16 and over, and Prince and Princess nominations must be aged between 5-15. Amanda Bowen, Deputy Head of Fundraising and Lottery, Mary Stevens Hospice Group said:

“We open the gates to our community every year for our Summer Fayre and it always fills our hearts to see thousands of local people coming to enjoy the day with us.

This year's parade presents an opportunity to do something really special for someone who truly deserves a day of being doted on. Based on the nominations we had last year, we have absolutely no idea how we're going to pick just one from each category!"

If you would like to nominate someone to be Queen, Prince or Princess at the Summer Fayre, please visit marystevenshospice.co.uk. Nominations will close on Sunday 19th August, and the winners will be chosen the following week by an independent judging committee.

The Summer Fayre will be held in the grounds of the Hospice on Saturday 1st September at 11:30am and will also include an invitational football tournament, a craft market, a fruit and veg show and various other attractions including all-day children's entertainment.
