Labour Hold St Thomas Ward In By-Election

The Labour Party has held the St Thomas ward in Dudley, following yesterday’s by-election, with a victory for Councillor Shaneila Mughal.

Cllr Mughal took 1,466 of the votes in the by-election, which was triggered by the resignation of former Labour councillor Glenis Simms in December last year.

The married mother-of-three, who works for the NHS as a specialist biomedical scientist, will now serve the ward alongside her Labour colleagues, councillors Steve Waltho and Shaukat Ali.
