Two exhibitions featuring work by borough artists are currently on display at Himley Hall.

Work by the Brierley Hill District Society of Artists and The Dudley Society of Artists is currently adorning the walls at the historic stately home, with visitors able to go along and have a look for free.

The Brierley Hill group was originally founded in 1947 so students of the then Brierley Hill School of Art had somewhere to display their work. It has grown in size over the years and its membership now includes both amateur and professional artists from Brierley Hill.

The society meets monthly, usually on the last Friday or each month – apart from July, August and December - at Kingswinford Community Centre from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The Dudley Society of Artists is celebrating its 90th year in 2018 and also has a membership of people of all levels and skills.

The group meets every Wednesday evening throughout the year between 7pm and 9pm at their base within the Art rooms at Castle High School in Dudley town centre. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of the council, said:

"There are some fantastic paintings hanging at Himley in these exhibitions, and it’s great to see they are the creations of talented local artists. We think it’s really important to help them showcase their talents and Himley is a great location."

The Brierley Hill District Society of Artists exhibition runs until Sunday 16th September and the Dudley Society of Artists showcase finishes on Saturday 22nd September.

The coffee lounge at Himley is open Monday to Sunday from 11am to 4pm until the beginning of September, while a Lego Star Wars exhibition is also currently running.
