Local mental health charity closes the doors on its cafe

Local Mental Health charity, Dudley MIND, have taken the tough decision to cease operating their 'Food for Thought' cafe in Stourbridge, to safeguard their core service and service users.

The cafe has operated for twelve months in the town, but the choice to cease operations was made due to high operational costs, lack of footfall, location and cafe competition within Stourbridge town centre. Chair of Trustees Cllr Dave Tyler said:

"It became clear over time that we could not continue to operate the cafe due to viability issues. We needed to act swiftly to safeguard our service users and the future income and expenditure of the charity.

"However, we remain committed to providing quality support to our current and future service users at this location.

Dudley Mind are part of the larger Mind family and exist to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. Anyone interested in supporting Dudley Mind as a member or fundraiser is encouraged to contact the charities Chief Executive, Sandra Vaughan, either by telephone on 01384 442938 or by emailing sandra.vaughan@dudleymind.org.uk.
