Local MP shows support for Mary Stevens Hospice project

Stourbridge MP, Suzanne Webb walked some of the Mary Steven’s Black Country Yard trail at the weekend as the charity raised funds for its important work.

Ms Webb was joined by her dog, Sid for the two-hour walk and she bought vinyl singles, plants and a toothbrush.

The stars of the show were 91-year-old Thelma’s Magic Plant Sale, which was selling plants she had grown from cuttings, and the Mary Stevens Hospice ice cream parlour at the end of the trail. Suzanne said:

“I never tire of saying the hospice is one of the jewels of my constituency and I was delighted to join the trail, meet those taking part and support this wonderful cause.

“This event was a huge community effort with over 20 stands and I would like to thank everyone who took part and raised much-needed money for the hospice’s superb work.

“I will be joining them once again at their summer fayre on 4th September and helping them out on a stand.”

A spokesperson for the Hospice said: "We are thrilled to have the support of our local MP for our second Yard Sale Trail event today. Suzanne has helped us with the promotion of the event and spreading the word about it through the local community, for which we are incredibly grateful.

"Following a difficult 18 months looking at how we can fundraise it is wonderful for us to be back out in our community helping to sustain the Hospice. Our community has offered us lots of support throughout the pandemic so it is great to be back out and about hosting in person events and having the opportunity to chat with our supporters again.

"Thank you, Suzanne Webb and the whole of our community, for supporting The Mary Stevens Hospice and we hope that you all enjoy our Black Country Yard Sale Trail."
