Local MP's volunteer in fight against Covid

Stourbridge MP, Suzanne Webb and Dudley North MP, Marco Longhi have joined the regions fight against Covid 19 by giving up their time to be volunteers.

Suzanne undertook online training last week to become a volunteer Covid Champion to help the local community with help and advice in dealing with issues arising from the pandemic.

The role, supported by Dudley Council, involves ensuring residents remain up to date on the latest advice about Coronavirus, including how and where to get tested and the best ways to keep safe. Suzanne said:

"For many years now I have been committed to volunteering in various guises and I thought this was an important role that would make a difference to Stourbridge residents.

“Now MPs are not having to travel to Westminster, I took the decision to do my bit for a few hours a week to make sure people are kept informed about what is the most important subject we have to grapple with.

“I would like to thank all the other people on my course today who are prepared to give their time too. They really are champions as far as I’m concerned.”

Dudley North MP, Mr Longhi, has taken up a position as a vaccination volunteer at the Black Country Living Museum, where he and his wife have worked three shifts assisting others with the administration of the vaccine. Speaking on social media, Marco said:

"[The vaccination centre] here is fantastic. It's working like clockwork and we're averaging around 1,000 vaccinations per day. If you get the call or if you get the letter, please show up. It's our best way out of this mess."
