Local pub break fundraising barrier for Hospice

Regulars at The Crown Pub, Hagley Road, Oldswinford are celebrating raising a total of £250,000 for The Mary Stevens Hospice after holding their latest annual fun day on Sunday 29th August.

Having held their annual fun day in aid of the Stourbridge based Hospice for the past 15 years, they missed out on last year’s event due to the pandemic and so were delighted to see people come out in force to enjoy the day and support a good cause.

Music on the day was provided by Al Bradley from Black Country Radio and local group, Spacehoppers performed live on stage. With an all you can eat barbeque, tombola, cake stall and charity auction, The Crown’s kind hearted customers raised a fantastic £22,857 on the day that has been donated to the Hospice and will be used to support patient care. Amanda Bowen, Head of Fundraising at The Mary Stevens Hospice said:

“During these tough times, we have been overwhelmed by the continued support our community has shown us, none more than from the dedicated staff and customers of our local, The Crown, which sits directly opposite our main gates on Hagley Road.

"We can’t begin to thank them enough for the fantastic compassion and support they show to the Hospice each year by holding their fun day. To have raised such a large amount of money for us is testament to the hard work and commitment they give and we can’t thank them enough!”

The Mary Stevens Hospice need to raise £3.5 million pounds each year so they can continue to provide specialist care to those in our community who need it. To help, or for more information, you can visit marystevenshospice.co.uk.
