Man charged with murder after body found in Stourbridge flat

A Stourbridge man has been charged with murder after the body of a man was found in a flat on New Year’s Day.

Unemployed Daniel Jones, aged 33 from Forge Road, will appear before Dudley magistrates today after being arrested from his home address on 1 January.

Police were called to the Stourbridge flat just after 7pm by a concerned neighbour. Officers forced the door open but nothing could be done to save the 59-year-old who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation was immediately launched and a 33-year-old man was arrested from another address in Forge Road later in the evening. He was charged this morning and will appear before magistrates today.

A spokesman said: "We are still in the early stages of piecing together exactly what happened and would ask anyone with information to come forward and contact us."

Detectives continue to appeal for information to help them determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and are asking anyone who can assist the investigation to call them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
