Man named following Dudley shooting

Mohammed Haroon Zeb

A man who died after being shot in Dudley on Sunday has been named as Mohammed Haroon Zeb.

The 39-year-old, known as Haroon, was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the shooting in Queens Cross just after 12:35am.

He was sadly pronounced dead later that afternoon.

His family have paid tribute to him saying: “Haroon a beautiful son, brother, father, a real icon to this world.

“He eased the burdens of everyone he knew and his beautiful smile lit up every room he walked in.

“Today we mourn the loss of our hero who will be dearly missed. Forever in our hearts rest peacefully Haroon. We will love and miss you forever and your memories will be engraved in our hearts always. RIP Haroon."

Detectives are examining CCTV and carrying out a number of other enquires in an attempt to establish who is responsible. They are urging anyone with any information, who’s not already spoken to them, to get in touch.

It’s known that a man flagged down local officers in the area, just after Haroon was shot and detectives are really keen to speak to him.

They’re also asking for anyone with any dash cam footage to contact them. Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro, from our homicide team, said:

“Haroon’s death is simply tragic, my thoughts are with his family and friends and this very sad time.

"Our investigation is continuing at pace as we try and understand what happened.

"I would urge anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible."

A post mortem is due to take place on Friday.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via Live Chat, or by calling 10, quoting 20DY/28354Z/21.

Alternatively, you can ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
