The victim was left seriously injured and needed hospital treatment after violence broke out. Police today launched a fresh appeal for information after claiming it was a targeted attack on the man, aged 22, from Birmingham.

Officers were called to Carter's Lane, between Halesowen and Quinton, following reports of a disorder outside the Old Crown Pub. Detectives are seeking a group of five or six black and white men who chased the victim out of the pub.

The attack happened at around 1.15am on March 25. A spokesman for West Midlands Police said:

"At this stage, officers believe that this was a targeted attack but this kind of violence will not be tolerated. We strongly believe that someone knows who did this and that someone will have information that could prove vital to our investigation."
