Man taken to hospital after being impaled on fence

A man was airlifted to hospital after being impaled on a metal fence in Wolverley.

The man in his 40s suffered chest injuries after getting stuck on a fence in Church Bank, Wolverley, near Kidderminster. 

Paramedics attended just after 10.30am this morning. The air ambulance was called to the scene and the injured man was flown to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

His was said to be in a stable condition and was conscious as he was being treated. West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith said:

"We were called to reports of a patient who became impaled on a metal spiked fence.

"A man in his 40s was treated for chest injuries and airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham."
