Man who suffered heart attack after anaesthetist blunder gets five figure pay-out

A man who suffered a heart attack at Russells Hall Hospital after his anaesthetist left the operating room has received a five-figure settlement.

Adam Bennett from Lower Gornal was undergoing routine urological surgery under general anaesthetic in April 2015. He was left unattended by the anaesthetist for two minutes and went into cardiac arrest.

Chief executive at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, Diana Wake, said that they 'accepted that the temporary absence of the anaesthetist during Mr. Bennett’s procedure was inexcusable' and apologised for any distress caused.
