New car park boost for Pensnett traders

A new car park has opened in Pensnett following the completion of a £6.3 million road improvement scheme.

The new car park in Bradley Street has been welcomed by businesses as a huge boost for the area.

The car park has space for 16 cars, with the aim of having three hours free parking for shoppers between 7am and 7pm every day.

Work on the multi-million pound road scheme finished this summer and includes new traffic signals and crossings. The new car park has been added to help drive up trade at the local centre and support local residents. Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for environmental services, said:

"This has been a long and difficult scheme but one which is now showing some positive results.

"We listened to traders throughout the work and this new car park will help them in making it easier for people to visit the local centre.”
