Oldbury company fined after boy suffers injury

An Oldbury company’s been fined £12,000 after a young boy received more than 50 stitches in an accident at a laser tag arena.

The 11-year-old suffered deep lacerations to his knee when he fell onto a metal grid in the floor of The Raceway at the Park Lane Trading Estate in July, 2013.
DFI Services Ltd, the then owners of the arena, pleaded guilty to two offences at Sandwell Magistrates Court.

And a landlord’s been ordered to pay fines of more than £1,700 after allowing a property in Tipton to be occupied which had a council prohibition order on it.

Giano Kaur pleaded guilty at Sandwell Magistrates Court for failing to comply with the order served by Sandwell Council.

In 2013 the council discovered the property in Newhall Street had broken windows and doors, no heating, defective electrics and inadequate bathroom and kitchen facilities.
