Plea to witnesses following fatal Wolverhampton collision

Police investigating a fatal Wolverhampton collision have made a direct plea to other drivers to come forward with information.

Officers were called to Parkfield Road after two people were hit by a red Peugeot 207 at around 6.50am on Thursday 12th December.

A 43-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and a 55-year-old woman remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Dashcam and CCTV footage has been secured but officers still need to speak to other drivers who were in the area at the time and witnessed what happened. Sergeant Dean Caswell, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

"We know there were a number of drivers in the area at the time and we need them to come forward. You could be important witnesses as we continue to establish the circumstances around this collision, which has tragically claimed a man’s life and left another woman seriously injured."

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Anyone with information can contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit via email, by calling 101 or by using Live Chat between 8am and midnight.

Quote log number 315 of 12 December.
