Police appeal for witnesses after park attack

Police in Dudley are appealing for information after a woman was attacked in an attempted robbery on 7th September.

The incident happened in Withymoor Park off Turners Lane in Brierley Hill, close to the Sainsbury’s supermarket.

At 1.50pm a man approached the 18-year-old woman on the footpath and shouted abuse before launching into an attack, punching her in the face repeatedly. He tried to steal her handbag, but she managed to keep hold of it and break free and the suspect left empty handed, walking in the direction of the children’s play park.

Once he’d left she called police to report the offence and described the offender as a white man in his late 20’s, 5ft 8ins tall with dark hair, stubble. At the time he was dressed in matching dark blue tracksuit and ‘acting like he was on drugs’.

She attended hospital for an assessment having sustained swelling and bruising to her face, eyes and ears and was later discharged to recover at home.
